John x Alexander: TheCoffeeShop

Topic: John x Alexander, Lams, in which John has a weird impulse to ask a startling question to Alexander when he spots him in the coffee shop

    John Laurens woke up in his dorm not feeling Alexander on the other side of the bed. He sighed, gingerly hauling his ass out of bed before checking the time. 8:15 am. A long groan escaped his lips as he nearly collapsed back onto his bed. He overslept, again.

    Alexander was going to kill him.

    Of course, he couldn't right at the moment because when John existed out of the room, the small man was nowhere in sight. The only evidence that he was here was the curtains being parted to let in extra sunlight. 

    "He's probably in the coffee shop that he always goes to in the morning," John mumbled to himself hoping to keep himself awake. After falling on his face twice and banging his head into the wall, he managed to get himself situated and set off to the coffee shop.

    Surprisingly, the weather was cooperating today considering the huge storm two days ago that had burst through the college campus unexpectedly. John thought fondly of the way Alex had cuddled up close to him every time lightning streaked close to the window. Alexander always hated lightning. 

    Soon, the coffee shop was in John's limited vision, the caffeine aroma already strong in his nostril. He was suddenly hit with nostalgia, the memory of seeing a small, red-head boy sipping his coffee while scribbling furiously on a piece of paper on a table outside of the shop. So when John spotted Alex in the very same spot he first met him, John was suddenly hit with a strange feeling deep inside.

    "Oh, John!" Alexander looked up, smiling brightly. He rarely smiled, especially during the morning. Maybe he had more energy due to his humungous coffee cup in his hand. "You finally woke up!"

    John was reduced to nothing. He opened his mouth to say something-- just a simple "hi"  back, but no words came out. What was going on with him? Was he just not saying the right words?

    Alexander tilted his head to the side, that single movement sending his long hair sweeping over his left eye. He swatted it away, a huff of annoyance escaping his lips. 

    Watching his movements, John immediately blurted out the one thing stuck in his head.

    "Do you want to marry me?"

    Wait, did those words just come out of my mouth?

    Alex just stood there, shocked. His blue eyes grew to the size of his coffee cup. Honestly, John was as shocked as he was.

    "I-I mean, n-not right now. We're still in college and everything s-so, I mean... i-in the future. Like when we g-get out of college and have a j-job and... everything."

    John was entirely convinced that he had a stuttering problem now.

    He was afraid of Alex thinking he was a crazy person, but to his surprise, Alexander smiled back, a bit shyly now. "I would love to marry you." He blinked, noticed what he was saying, and then blushed. "I-I mean, in the future of course."

    John had to laugh, sitting down next to his boyfriend. "You really are blushing idiot."

    "Shut up, turtle boy."

    "You really want to go there, don't you, Alex?"

    "Oh, I always go there, John."

    For now, that would be enough for the two of them.
